Chapter 145, Class 7
Chapter 145, Class 7
The morning sun pierced through the thin mist and shone on the roof tiles of the Hatake residence.
The sizzling sound of oil coming from the kitchen was as Sakumo Hatake, wearing an apron, skillfully scooped the fried eggs into a plate.
There was nothing decadent or gloomy about it.
The legendary White Fang of Konoha, who struck fear into the hearts of his enemies, now looked more like an ordinary middle-aged man at home.
Although his silver hair was still somewhat messy, his eyes were bright, and there was a hint of a smile in the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes.
"Kakashi, breakfast is ready."
"They're here."
Hurried footsteps echoed down the stairs.
Six-year-old Kakashi carried a short sword, wore a mask, and had his headband tied askew on his silver hair.
He pulled out a chair, sat down, and began eating quickly and efficiently.
"Is today another training session for the Minato team?" Sakumo took off his apron, sat down opposite him, and picked up his teacup.
"Um."
Kakashi swallowed his food, a hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes.
"That guy who's always lagging behind is going to be late again. He always makes up an excuse, like helping an old lady cross the street."
Shuo Mao smiled and reached out to rub his son's head.
"Don't say that about Obito. That kid has a kind heart, and this is his own way of ninja."
"Hmph, a ninja way that doesn't even have a sense of time."
Despite his sharp tongue, Kakashi couldn't dodge his father's large hand.
After finishing their meal, Kakashi put his mask back on, and the father and son went out together.
On the street, villagers who were cleaning up stopped what they were doing when they saw Shuomao.
"Good morning, Lord Sakumo."
"Lord White Fang, you look quite well today."
"Kakashi has grown taller again, and he looks so energetic!"
There was no pointing fingers or malicious whispering.
Since that reversal of public opinion, Sakumo has not fallen from grace. Instead, he has become a more down-to-earth hero because of his image of "protecting his comrades even if he has to bear the infamy".
Sakumo responded with a smile to each of their responses.
We reached a fork in the road.
"I'm going to the Hokage Building. The Third Hokage said there's a mission that requires me to go there," Sakumo said.
"Okay, I'm going to the training ground."
Kakashi waved his hand and turned to walk down another path.
Looking at his son's tall and straight back, Sakumo touched the short sword on his back, his eyes tender.
……
The training ground.
Minato Namikaze was engrossed in reading a book titled "Advanced Theory of Sealing Techniques".
Beside him, Nohara Rin was carefully wiping the tools in the medical kit.
"Minato-sensei, Obito... seems to be late again." Rin glanced at the time and smiled somewhat awkwardly.
"Well, you'll get used to it."
Minato closed the book, a tolerant smile on his face. "But if it takes more than thirty minutes this time, he'll have to treat us to lunch today."
I think so too.
A cold voice interrupted.
Kakashi emerged from the woods, hands in his pockets, a short sword slung across his back. He surveyed the empty area; he had been practicing swordsmanship alone for a long time, and that loser still hadn't arrived.
"As ninjas, punctuality is a basic quality. That idiot is simply wasting our lives."
"Kakashi, good morning," Rin greeted him with a smile.
Kakashi nodded, still aloof, but without that icy aura that kept people at arm's length.
Right now, he's just a slightly arrogant genius, not a machine that confines itself to the rules.
"Ahhh! I'm here!"
Just then, a cloud of dust billowed from afar as someone ran.
Obito Uchiha, wearing goggles, rushed over, panting, with half a loaf of bread in his mouth.
"Phew...Phew...We've arrived safely!"
Obito slammed on the brakes in front of everyone, clutching his knees and panting heavily.
"I'm twenty minutes late."
Kakashi ruthlessly pronounced his verdict, his eyes filled with disdain: "Did you get lost? Or did you run into that black cat again?"
"What do you know!"
Obito straightened up and retorted confidently:
"A police auxiliary officer's car broke down just now, and I helped him push it. That's helping others, that's the Will of Fire!"
"Hmph, excuse." Kakashi turned his head away.
"You bastard!"
Obito rolled up his sleeves, ready to charge forward. "Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you're a Chunin! I'll be promoted to Chunin soon too!"
"Alright, alright, stop arguing."
Lin skillfully stepped between the two, acting as a peacemaker.
Minato looked at the noisy trio, and his smile deepened.
Although Obito was always late and Kakashi was very sarcastic, there was no rift in this team caused by conflicting values.
Kakashi did not become paranoid because of his father's situation. He still believed in his comrades. Even though he complained about Obito, he would always subconsciously protect Obito's blind spots during actual combat training.
"Alright, now that everyone's here, let's begin today's training."
Minato clapped his hands and formed a hand seal.
"Bang!"
As the white smoke dissipated, a shadow clone identical to Minato appeared before everyone.
The real Minato retreated to a large tree nearby and sat down with a smile: "Today's opponent is my shadow clone. The rules are simple: if the three of you can touch the hem of his clothes together, or force him to use a ninjutsu of C rank or higher, you win."
"Huh? Just one clone?"
Feeling slighted, Obito pointed at his clone and shouted, "Sensei, you underestimate the Uchiha clan! Watch me take him down in a minute!"
The clone Minato still wore that gentle smile, even putting one hand behind his back and making a "please" gesture.
"Come on, don't be shy."
"Take this! Great Fireball Technique!"
Obito was the first to rush forward, his hand seals forming quite quickly, and he unleashed a burst of flames from his mouth.
However, the clone Minato merely turned slightly to the side and lightly touched the ground with his feet, as if he were taking a stroll. The fireball grazed the hem of his clothes without even burning a single hair.
"Too slow, Obito."
The clone Minato chuckled as he commented, casually flicking Obito's forehead as he charged at him.
"Thump!"
"Ouch!" Obito covered his forehead and squatted down with tears in his eyes.
"Stop spacing out, you idiot!"
Kakashi seized the opportunity, wielding a kunai and cutting in from a blind spot with swift movements, aiming straight for Minato's lower back.
"He's starting to look like a Chunin, but..."
The clone Minato didn't even turn around; he simply flicked his toes slightly.
Kakashi, who was sprinting, suddenly tripped and lost his balance, falling forward—right onto Obito, who had just stood up.
"Ouch! Kakashi, what are you doing?!"
"Shut up! You're blocking my way!"
The two rolled around in a ball.
"Me too!"
Lin also threw out several shuriken in an attempt to provide support.
The clone Minato extended two fingers and, as if catching a fly, effortlessly caught the flying shuriken, then casually flicked it away.
"Do! Do! Do!"
The shuriken struck the ground precisely next to Obito and Kakashi's heads, startling them so much that they immediately stopped fighting and huddled together, trembling.
"Shall we continue?" the clone Minato asked with a smile, without even taking a deep breath.
"Damn it! I was underestimated!"
Obito and Kakashi exchanged a glance and, unusually, reached an agreement.
"Attack together!"
For the next period of time, Class 7 was unilaterally and thoroughly defeated.
Without any fancy ninjutsu, Minato the Shadow Clone technique, relying solely on basic taijutsu and the Body Flicker Technique, easily manipulated the three little ones.
"On the left... oh dear, that's just an afterimage."
"Kakashi, you used your Substitution Jutsu too early."
"Obito, stop throwing punches blindfolded! That's Rin!"
Ten minutes later.
Dust filled the air on the exercise field.
Obito was hanging from a tree branch, his goggles askew on his chin; Kakashi was half-buried in the ground, with only his silver head sticking out, staring at the sky with dead fish eyes; Rin was exhausted and slumped on the ground, panting heavily.
Meanwhile, the clone Minato remained standing in the same spot, his clothes perfectly wrinkle-free, and he even handed Rin a bottle of water.
"Hmm, the cooperation level is still zero."
The real Minato walked over, dispelled the clone, and couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of his three disheveled disciples.
"Although you all work very hard, in actual combat, if you don't learn true teamwork, you'll be used as a football by the enemy."
"Damn it... Is this the strength of a Jonin? Even a clone is this powerful..."
Obito struggled in the tree, yelling, "Minato-sensei, are you using cheat codes?!"
"That's called having a solid foundation."
Minato lowered Obito from the tree and then pulled Kakashi out of the ground.
"Alright, as punishment, Obito's treating to lunch today!"
"Huh?! Why me?!"
"Because you almost burned my hair with your fire jutsu just now." Kakashi dusted himself off and added coldly.
……
On the treetops in the distance, Nishikawa Tetsu held a half-eaten apple in his right hand and binoculars in his left, watching the energetic Class 7.
"Is this the butterfly effect?"
Nishikawa Tetsu took a bite of the apple.
"White Fang without his inner turmoil, Kakashi without his psychological trauma."
"This kind of Class 7 will definitely be able to forge a different path."
Although... Obito's goggles still look so silly.
Nishikawa Tetsu smiled, threw the apple core into the trash can, and turned to leave.
"Let's cherish these peaceful days."
