Chapter 617 - 588: Hands-On Approach
In the dreamlike yet very textured black-and-white photo, a woman with slender, graceful limbs and a sweet face as always, is dressed simply in white gauze, lowering her gaze to look at her pregnant belly, with both hands gently against her navel, forming a heart. And in the lower left corner of the photo frame, there’s a processed 4D baby image. The baby’s deep features are exactly like Simon Forrester’s, sweetly asleep with closed eyes. Even the curve of the lips is identical to Simon Forrester’s.
It turns out Simon Forrester was lost in thought, staring at the photos of his wife and child...
Gavin Gale smiled knowingly, saying, "The baby looks like you."
"Does she?" Simon Forrester, who was reviewing documents, instinctively glanced up at the baby’s photo, "It’s a daughter. There’s an old saying: ’Girls take after their fathers.’
Gavin Gale was about to ask how they knew the gender before the birth, but then thought, the Forrester Family has money and connections; finding out the child’s gender is not difficult.
Simon Forrester turned a page of the document in hand and smiled, "What about you? No plans to settle down yet?"
Gavin Gale blushed slightly, smiling, "Haven’t met the right girl."
"My wife’s assistant at the Treaty and Law Department, what’s her name? She was the youngest bridesmaid at our wedding, isn’t she nice? Should I introduce you?"
Simon Forrester was referring to Wendy Jacobs. Gavin Gale knew, but he wasn’t interested in her, otherwise he would have pursued her early on.
Seeing Gavin’s awkward smile, Simon Forrester guessed he wasn’t interested in Wendy Jacobs, so he smiled without pushing further.
.
Simon Forrester originally planned to work the entire day today but didn’t expect the work to finish by afternoon. He thought he should visit the maternity center, so he left The Forresters early.
It was the most upscale maternity center in the city, located in the northwest direction within the Fourth Ring, surrounded by forest parks. The environment was excellent, a natural oxygen bar, perfect for pregnant women and newborns. Many female celebrities choose to have their postpartum recovery here.
This maternity center was recommended by Jack Hawthorne; his wife had her postpartum recovery here. When Simon Forrester mentioned it to Sienna Thornton, she initially disagreed, saying the cost was high and it was far from home, inconveniencing Melinda Linton’s visits.
Later, after visiting once, unable to resist the primitive greenery, fresh air, exquisite standalone villas, super five-star hotel-like management, and various diverse maternity exercise rooms, she agreed readily, with distance and cost no longer issues.
Simon Forrester came today to pay the balance, informing the maternity center they’ll move in on the afternoon of August 17th, requesting the center to send a car and nurse to the city hospital to pick up the mother and baby.
Actually, he could have handled this with a phone call and bank transfer, or cautiously asked Harrison Rowe to come, avoiding the need to travel personally. But regarding Sienna and the child’s matters, he preferred personal involvement for better assurance.
Before settling the balance, Simon Forrester checked the villa they booked, finding the mattress in the maternity’s sleeping area has been used by others, immediately asking the center to remove it, and requesting Harrison Rowe to find someone to move the latex mattress from the master bedroom of his and Sienna’s former apartment.
The villa has two floors: downstairs are the maternity room, guestroom, living room, and dining room; upstairs is the maternity exercise area. Although the center operates with super five-star hotel management standards, Simon Forrester was still uneasy, arranging for the aunt from the old house to come in a few days to thoroughly disinfect inside and out.
After settling matters with the center, he returned to The Springs Residences by evening.
Sienna mentioned she wanted to have dinner at her parents’ home tonight, waiting for Quentin Thorne to return from work, to discuss the scheduled cesarean section the day after tomorrow.
.
Quentin Thorne soon returned. Upon entering, seeing Sienna and Simon Forrester in the living room, he was eager to ask, standing in the hallway with shoes still on: "Annie, isn’t the due date two days overdue already, still no signs?"
Simon Forrester replied, "The baby’s position is off; tomorrow morning we’ll be admitted to the hospital, the cesarean is scheduled for the day after."
"Ah?" Quentin Thorne was startled, "Why is the baby’s position off? Wasn’t Annie actively exercising throughout the pregnancy?"
Sienna laughed, "The baby’s biparietal diameter is relatively large, and my pelvis is not wide enough, so the baby is in the occiput position."
Understanding now, Quentin Thorne changed into slippers but didn’t go to the living room, instead heading to the dining room, asking Melinda Linton who was setting the utensils, "Melinda, was it tough when you had Annie?"
Melinda Linton blushed, whispering, "There was some difficulty, took three days and nights to give birth."
"Melinda..." Quentin Thorne’s voice softened completely, firmly gripping Melinda Linton’s hand, "I’ve owed you so much this lifetime..."
In the living room, Sienna, who was waiting for Quentin Thorne’s concern, silently withdrew her hopeful gaze. Simon Forrester noticed, holding her gently, kissing her on the temple: "I’m here."
She pouted, pushing a peeled grape into his mouth.
After speaking with Melinda in the dining room, Quentin Thorne finally remembered to show concern for his elder daughter. But regarding childbirth, he had no experience, the only pregnancy and childbirth process he witnessed was Ian Grant and Mina Thorne’s case.
Yet, at that time, due to being forced to marry Ian, harboring great resentment towards him and earnestly longing for Melinda, he hardly noticed Ian. So when Ian was pregnant, he secretly searched for Melinda, combined with busy work, he was essentially absent during Ian’s pregnancy, and even when Ian was giving birth, he was out of town, only returning after Ian was discharged home.
Recalling the past, Quentin Thorne felt a complex mix of emotions, remaining silent.
Believing he was worried about her, Sienna pretended to be relaxed, saying: "It’s alright, Cyrus’ doctor friend will assist then, and Dr. Sutton is Mrs. Blackwood’s trusted surgeon, since the Blackwood Family trusts her, why should we worry? Don’t fret."
Quentin Thorne nodded, emphasizing, "But childbirth remains a dangerous and serious matter, I won’t work on your surgery day, will keep watch with your mom outside the operating room. Enter with ease, we’ll handle all paperwork outside."
Clearly distrusting the Forrester Family and Simon Forrester.
Simon Forrester heard this, slightly displeased, but dared not express anger, only calmly stating, "It’s a Saturday, you wouldn’t work anyway."
Quentin Thorne shot him a look, raising his voice, reiterating, "In any case, on Annie’s surgery day, both her mom and I will be there!" then later added, "Give me the surgeon’s name and contact number."
Sienna heard, getting anxious: "Why? Hospitals don’t allow tipping now. Besides, the surgeon’s a close friend of Mrs. Blackwood, very dedicated, no issues."
