Chapter 532 - 504: Returning to Her Family (Part 4)
Quentin Thorne’s guests initially thought Tobias Blackwood and the others came to help because of the Grant Family, since the Grant Family has always been close with the Blackwood Family. But after some private inquiries, one of the guests, who had heard some gossip from an unknown source, said that the woman standing next to Quentin Thorne was his girlfriend before marriage, and today’s bride was his illegitimate daughter.
The guests who didn’t know the details were shocked and confused. They couldn’t understand why Quentin Thorne would not only acknowledge his daughter but also offend the Grant Family by arranging a wedding for his illegitimate daughter.
Considering this factor, the Grant Family would definitely not agree with Quentin Thorne doing this. No wonder, apart from the fourth young master of the Grant Family serving as the best man, no other member of the Grant Family was present today.
With this in mind, it’s certain that Tobias Blackwood and the others’ appearance had nothing to do with the Grant Family, but rather came because of Quentin Thorne?
On the other side, Sienna Thornton’s high school homeroom teacher, who was familiar with her past, was also taken aback. She couldn’t imagine how the student from a poor county, who relied on a six hundred yuan monthly aid from the school to continue her studies, had suddenly become the daughter of the High Court’s dean. And her mother didn’t look like a poor rural farmer...
Sienna’s classmates in Azure Harbor also found it puzzling. Everyone knew about her family struggles, and that she went all the way to Azure Harbor for college because she couldn’t afford tuition in the mainland, relying on a full scholarship to study there. She worked hard while in Azure Harbor for years, saving money to return to the mainland for graduate studies.
But today, judging from the quality of guests attending the wedding, considering her parents’ attire and etiquette, nothing seemed to match the description of a "family in difficulty"...
Everyone was bewildered, unable to comprehend what was going on. Nevertheless, out of politeness and a friendly attitude toward Sienna Thornton, they didn’t discuss it privately, but each had countless questions in their hearts.
While the bride’s guests remained tight-lipped, Quentin Thorne’s colleagues and friends were lively in discussion due to their half-understood information.
It seemed like a controversial return banquet for Quentin Thorne, but he was indifferent, his face radiant with the joy of "finding a good match for his daughter."
The time was about right, and most of the guests had arrived. The newlyweds were about to move to the banquet hall.
Simon Forrester whispered something to Harrison Rowe, who then went into the banquet hall. After a while, he came out and reported to Simon Forrester, "Young Master Blackwood said everything is arranged, so you can relax."
As he said this, Gage Grant, standing next to them, leaned in and asked in a low voice, "What’s going on? Is Leo arranging to prevent our family members from barging in?"
Harrison Rowe remained silent.
Simon Forrester replied nonchalantly, "Just in case."
This seemed like something Ian Grant would do, so Gage Grant had no words, feeling slightly bothered but more helpless.
At seven o’clock, the banquet hall staff turned off the lights and closed the doors. Sienna Thornton, holding a bouquet in one hand and Simon Forrester’s arm in the other, stood outside the door. When the doors opened, they would walk from this entrance to the runway, then to the wedding stage.
Sienna Thornton felt a bit nervous and quietly asked Simon Forrester, "Do you think Mr. Thornton plans to say something later?"
Simon Forrester laughed softly and said, "It would be strange if he didn’t say anything."
Understanding his subtle disapproval, Sienna Thornton pinched his arm and feigned anger, "How dare you!"
He stifled a laugh and replied, "Spare me, my queen."
At that moment, the doors of the hall swung open.
The delightful sound of wedding music filled the room, turning the entire banquet hall dark except for the runway lined with cherry blossoms and the pink wedding stage illuminated in the spotlight.
Sienna Thornton took a deep breath, straightened her back, held Simon Forrester’s arm, and walked in with a smile.
They walked forward with determination and happiness, slowly making their way across the romantic runway, then turned to face the guests.
The male host, dressed in a pink suit, held a microphone and addressed all the guests in a pleasant voice, "Welcome to the return banquet for Sienna Thorne, the eldest daughter of the Thorne Family, and the groom, Simon Forrester! Now, let’s invite the bride’s parents!"
Quentin Thorne, dressed formally in a three-piece suit, with neatly combed shiny hair, appeared spirited and radiant, his face beaming with an unusual, sincere happiness, as opposed to his usual polite smile.
Melinda Linton wore a cheongsam and mid-heel shoes, smiling with crescent-shaped eyes, happiness wrinkling the corners of her eyes, as she slowly followed Quentin Thorne onto the stage.
The two did not walk arm in arm, nor did they hold hands, ascending the steps one before the other, more like old friends.
Quentin Thorne stepped onto the wedding stage first, turned to wait for Melinda Linton still climbing the steps, and extended his hand toward her.
Melinda Linton looked at him with a smile, held his hand briefly, but as soon as she stepped onto the stage, their hands naturally released.
The pair stood beside Sienna Thornton, smiling and facing all the guests.
The host placed the microphone in front of Quentin Thorne and asked, "I heard today’s beautiful and gracious bride is your eldest daughter, Mr. Thorne?"
"Yes, she is my eldest daughter," Quentin Thorne replied, slightly turning to glance at Melinda Linton, introducing, "This is her mother."
The host immediately complimented, "So that’s where the bride gets her beauty and grace from, her mother. Aunty, you look so young, are you really the bride’s mother?"
These words made Melinda Linton, who had never been complimented like this, blush.
The host then turned to the newlyweds, "Today, this couple is dazzling, like stars. The groom is tall and handsome; the bride is beautiful and elegant. They are truly a perfect match! On behalf of The State Guesthouse, I wish you a lifetime of happiness together forever!"
Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester, holding hands, smiled and nodded, saying, "Thank you."
The host handed the microphone to them and asked, "I heard your encounter was quite interesting, like a story out of a novel. Could you share this with all our guests today?"
Sienna Thornton wasn’t expecting this twist but realized these questions must have been approved by Quentin Thorne, so she found it hard to refuse.
As she was about to answer, the host, noticing her hesitation, moved the microphone to Simon Forrester.
Simon Forrester smiled, glanced at his bride, and said, "Our meeting was indeed dramatic. Four years ago, she was a lawyer, representing her client to meet me. I fell in love at first sight, and after the case ended, I began to pursue her fervently."
Host: "Then, may I ask who won the case? Did the groom win, or did the bride’s client win?"
Simon Forrester laughed, leaning into the microphone, "Her client won! I didn’t want her to think I was too calculating, so I let go of holding her client accountable."
The guests burst into laughter.
