Chapter 1362: Deadly Trap

Chapter 1362: Deadly Trap

"Open fire. Eliminate the target as much as possible while ensuring your own safety. Just get their attention, don’t get bogged down in battle. Quickly depart the battlefield and regroup with me," Ye Fan ordered."Yes!" Zhang Kui, who received the order, locked the icy muzzle on the target.

As the gun barrel trembled and roared, a bullet whistled out.

Without any hesitation, Zhang Kui decisively pulled the trigger.

With the sound suppressed by the silencer, the sniper rifle did not make much noise.

A bullet cut through hundreds of meters of space, darting straight toward the side face of a Spine Team member.

"Pfft!" The bullet pierced through the ear of the Spine Team member and shot out from the other side.

With a spray of blood, the well-hidden Spine Team member instantly died.

"Enemy attack, enemy attack!" Someone quietly reminded, without showing any panic, saying calmly, "Five to six o’clock direction, search for the target and kill them, no need to report."

"Understood!" The other voices calmly echoed, lacking any emotional response to their companion’s death.

The eyes of four Spine Team members instantly locked onto the area where Zhang Kui was positioned, carefully searching.

When Zhang Kui fired the first shot, he held an advantage, plus the target was exposed while he was not, giving him the chance for a second shot. However, once he fired the second shot, his hiding place would be discovered.

Even if he didn’t fire the second shot, his location would sooner or later enter the sights of one of the four Spine Team members.

Without having time to think, he decisively pulled the trigger and shot the second bullet out, then swiftly retreated.

Instead of engaging too much and risking exposure to enemy bullets, it was better to fire two decisive shots and then retreat.

He dared not disobey Ye Fan’s orders; he could only comply with the arrangement.

The second bullet entered a Spine Team member’s face and exited through the back of the head.

Simultaneously, Zhang Kui’s retreating figure was exposed in the sights of the other three.

Due to Zhang Kui’s rapid retreat and the considerable distance, the remaining three could not lock on to the target and therefore did not fire.

"Pursue!" The three charged forward with murderous intent.

"An enemy has emerged, likely one of the seven bandits, stubbornly coming to scout for information and encountered my people unexpectedly. Two of our people were caught off guard and died or were wounded. Now, we’re pursuing the enemy," White Whale informed General Hawan upon receiving the news.

General Hawan’s eyes narrowed as he questioned, "I was unaware that Miss White Whale’s people were ambushed outside my camp, which makes one wonder: are you worried about your own safety or do you have other plans?"

"Being inside the general’s stronghold ensures safety without a doubt; I’m quite confident of that. Outside, there are only five Spine Team members with no malintent. I suspect those seven bandits have already crossed paths with you, General, and will surely try to deal with you. If they find an opportunity to assassinate, they’ll definitely strike to eliminate this threat. With this judgment, I instructed my people to hide outside to scout the bandits’ whereabouts, and sure enough, the bandits appeared," White Whale patiently explained.

Since White Whale said so, General Hawan felt reassured and refrained from voicing any unfavorable speculations regarding White Whale, avoiding mutual embarrassment. White Whale’s reasoning also made sense, leaving him no choice but to trust her words.

General Hawan still felt unease that White Whale did not share this intelligence with him.

"I believe the bandits came to assassinate me but instead accidentally encountered the Spine Team members. Thanks to Captain White Whale’s foresight," General Hawan said to White Whale. Even without such an encounter, General Hawan would remain unharmed, as he was well-hidden and unlikely to become a sniper target.

He smiled, "However, since the enemy has been exposed, this presents us with a rare opportunity."

"General, let me send my men to eliminate this target. There’s only one target; it won’t be difficult to kill," White Whale suggested.

"No need, I have my arrangements," General Hawan replied with a smile. "Once exposed, this bandit can’t roam outside indefinitely. He will surely return to the lair. Once he reunites with the others, that’s our best time to strike."

"The opponent is sharp and strong; they will naturally be aware of being tracked. Hence, they won’t return to the lair. In my opinion, kill this target and then search for the others, or severely injure this target to lure out the others," White Whale vowed confidently.

"I’ve long prepared a UAV, waiting for the bandits to show up. Once they appear, they can’t escape from my grasp. With UAV technology, I can track the enemy’s every move and provide coordinates, giving the artillery unit eyes to rightfully bombard the bandits," General Hawan said venomously.

As a general of D Country, he exploited his authority and status to maximize the use of power.

The sole purpose of doing so was to kill Ye Fan and his seven companions, to wash away his humiliation.

Being taken hostage was a stigma he had never experienced in his life, and the mastermind must pay in blood.

"A UAV?" White Whale was suddenly shocked, realizing that General Hawan’s resolve to kill the seven bandits was far beyond her expectations, even deploying such advanced technology.

"As a legendary general, he truly holds a petty grudge, despising the seven bandits just because he was held hostage," White Whale murmured to herself.

No matter what, since General Hawan had such arrangements, White Whale naturally complied.

"General Hawan’s meticulous planning is indeed impressive, leaving the bandits nowhere to hide. No matter where they run, eyes from ten thousand meters above will be watching; once they return to the lair, all bandits can be annihilated at once," White Whale laughed joyfully.

"Miss White Whale, next, watch my methods," General Hawan chuckled.

"General, please do," White Whale complimented.

"Lieutenant!" General Hawan turned to the lieutenant.

"General, everything is ready, waiting for your command," the lieutenant said decisively.

"Attack, I want to see the enemy blown to pieces before me, leaving no remains," General Hawan filled with killing intent.

The lieutenant issued the order.

White Whale readily accepted this operation. The Spine Team could eliminate a visible target, but could not yet find the others. Now, with the chance to seek out all targets, she was naturally pleased.
