Lin Ye nodded, the energy sword he was condensing in his hand flickering: "I understand. Every battle is a learning opportunity."
Just as the two were talking, Lin Ye's communicator suddenly rang. Bulma's holographic projection appeared at the top of the tower, her face showing excitement.
"Lin Ye! The martial arts tournament starts tomorrow, come back soon! Everyone's here, just waiting for you!"
"So fast?" Lin Ye was somewhat surprised. "I'll go back right away."
After bidding farewell to Immortal Kalin, Lin Ye transformed into a golden light that streaked across the sky, speeding towards the Western Capital.
Inside Capsule Corporation's training room, the atmosphere was electric. Vegeta was sparring with Trunks, while Gohan adjusted his own condition on the side. When Lin Ye walked in, all eyes turned to him.
"Lin Ye, you're finally back!" Trunks was the first to greet him. "You seem to have gotten a lot stronger."
Lin Ye smiled and said, "We had some success in Kalin Tower. How are everyone's preparations going?"
Vegeta scoffed, "We'll just have to wait until tomorrow. There are a few interesting opponents at this martial arts tournament, so it won't be too boring."
Number 18 walked over from the corner of the training room, holding the list of participants for this year's martial arts tournament: "There are a few new faces worth noting. There's an alien named Geno, who is said to be able to contend with a Super Saiyan 2; and there's an Earth girl named Lily, whose martial arts style is very unique. She defeated last year's top eight contestants in one move during the preliminaries."
Anise added, "I've also heard about a mysterious fighter who called himself 'Shadow' who never showed his face during the qualifiers, but all his opponents were defeated within three moves."
Gohan's expression turned slightly serious: "This martial arts tournament seems to be quite extraordinary. Uncle Piccolo said he also sensed several unusually powerful ki, one of which even made him feel threatened."
Lin Ye's eyes flashed with interest: "That sounds interesting. I must have a good meeting with these experts tomorrow."
That evening, Bulma prepared a sumptuous farewell feast for everyone. The long table was laden with all sorts of delicious food, and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.
"So that Geno can really conjure up three heads and six arms?" Trunks asked while stuffing food into his mouth. "Isn't that like Nezha?"
Bulma pulled up the data projection: "According to the preliminaries' video, he seems to be able to briefly split into energy clones and launch attacks from multiple angles at the same time. However, he becomes noticeably fatigued after each use."
“What about Lily?” Gohan asked. “What’s so special about her martial arts style?”
Number 18 chimed in: "Her movements look soft and gentle, but in reality, every move she makes precisely targets the opponent's energy points. It's a bit like pressure point striking in ancient martial arts, but even more powerful."
Vegeta tapped the table impatiently: "Who cares what special abilities they have? Just crush them with sheer power."
Lin Ye chuckled, "Don't underestimate him, Vegeta. Different fighting styles can often give us new inspiration." He turned to Bulma and asked, "Have the rules changed for this tournament?"
Bulma nodded: "The biggest change is the addition of a weapons warfare component, allowing the use of non-energy weapons. This is quite advantageous for Trunks."
After dinner, everyone returned to their rooms to rest. Lin Ye stood by his window, gazing at the bright moon in the night sky, feeling both anticipation and peace. His cultivation over this period had significantly improved his strength, but his exploration of Origin Energy had only just begun.
Suddenly, he sensed an unusual energy fluctuation, faint yet peculiar. This energy was neither ordinary air nor any form of energy he was familiar with, giving him a sense of unfathomable depth.
"It seems like tomorrow's martial arts competition might be a bit too uneventful," Lin Ye muttered to himself, a hint of anticipation in his eyes.
Just then, his communicator rang again. It was an urgent message from Alice: "Multiple anomalous energy sources have been detected approaching Earth. Their purpose is unknown. We advise you to be on high alert."
Lin Ye frowned and replied, "Continue to monitor, and notify me immediately if anything happens."
Lin Ye turned off the communicator and gazed at the twinkling stars in the distance. The World's Number One Martial Arts Tournament was never peaceful, but this time it seemed exceptionally different. He had a vague feeling that a much larger storm might be brewing behind this tournament.
"Bring it on, whatever comes." A determined glint flashed in Lin Ye's eyes as he made final preparations for tomorrow's match.
The moon in the night sky was gradually obscured by dark clouds, as if foreshadowing an unsettling tomorrow.
Chapter 459: Martial Arts Grand Gathering
The arena of the World's Number One Martial Arts Tournament was bustling with activity, and the circular grandstand, which could hold 100,000 people, was packed to capacity. Colorful flags fluttered above the grandstand, and a huge holographic projection displayed the emblem of this year's tournament in the center of the arena: a golden dragon spiraling upwards.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament!" The host's voice resounded throughout the arena through the loudspeaker system, eliciting thunderous cheers. "This year's tournament features 128 top martial artists from Earth and even outer space, and we are confident that it will bring you unprecedentedly exciting matches!"
Lin Ye, Vegeta, Trunks, and Gohan stood in the designated rest area for the contestants, surveying the diverse group of participants around them. Martial artists from all over the world were warming up, and the air was filled with fluctuations of various energies.
"Looks like this year will be interesting." Vegeta crossed his arms and a slight smile played on his lips. "At least it won't be too boring."
Trunks was examining his sword: "That green-skinned alien looks formidable; he has a powerful aura."
Gohan nodded: "And that girl in the white dress, her aura is very special. It doesn't feel aggressive, but it's not something to be underestimated."
Lin Ye remained silent, his gaze sweeping over several particularly conspicuous contestants. Besides the known Jeno and Lily, he also noticed a figure shrouded in a black robe, whose aura was unusually eerie.
"The preliminary rounds are now beginning! All contestants, please take your positions in the designated areas!" the host's voice rang out again.
The preliminary rounds were held simultaneously on eight separate arenas. Lin Ye was assigned to the third arena, and his first opponent was a burly man over two meters tall with bulging muscles that almost ripped his martial arts uniform.
"Kid, it's not too late to admit defeat now." The burly man grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. "I don't want to cripple you."
Lin Ye merely glanced at him indifferently: "Enough with the nonsense, let's begin."
At the referee's whistle, the burly man launched a fierce attack, his massive fist creating a gust of wind. Lin Ye easily dodged to the side, delivering a precise chop to the man's neck. The burly man collapsed to the ground before he even understood what had happened.
"The winner is Lin Ye!" the referee announced loudly.
The audience erupted in enthusiastic applause, with many standing up to cheer for the clean and decisive strike.
Lin Ye won the next few preliminary matches with ease. The longest match only lasted one minute. Vegeta, Trunks, and Gohan all advanced smoothly.
During the lunch break, Bulma went to the players' rest area with a tablet in her hand.
"Not bad, everyone." She pulled up the data analysis. "Lin Ye's average time per game is 23 seconds, Vegeta's is 26 seconds, Trunks' is 35 seconds, and Gohan's is 38 seconds. Currently, they are ranked in the top four."
Vegeta snorted: "An opponent of that level isn't worth wasting time on."
“Don’t underestimate them,” Bulma said seriously. “I just analyzed all the fighters’ data, and there are a few things to watch out for. Geno’s energy reading is abnormally high, Lily’s movement patterns are completely unpredictable, and that fighter in the black robe, all detection equipment is ineffective against him.”
As they were talking, the host announced the start of the official competition draw. On the huge holographic screen, the contestants' names scrolled rapidly before finally settling on a single screen.
"Match 1: Trunks vs. Jax!"
"The second match is Vegeta versus Burter!"
"The third match is Gohan versus Lily!"
"The fourth match: Lin Ye versus the Black Robe!"
Trunks whistled: "Wow, I'm the first one. I heard that Jax is really good at ground moves."
Vegeta glanced at his opponent: "That Burt was the third-place finisher last year, and I heard he has a very strong defense."
Gohan seemed a little nervous: "Lily's martial arts style is very unique, I have to be careful."
Lin Ye's gaze remained fixed on the black-robed contestant. Even from this distance, he could sense the unusual aura emanating from the other party.
At 2 PM, the official match began. Trunks won easily, and Vegeta defeated the so-called "Iron Wall" Burter with just one move.
In the third match, Gohan faced off against Lily. The two stood on the ring, a stark contrast. Gohan was muscular and exuded a powerful aura; Lily was petite and delicate, her aura restrained.
"Please give me your guidance." Lily performed a traditional martial arts salute.
Gohan quickly returned the greeting: "Please guide me."
The match began, and Lily launched the first attack. Her movements were fluid and graceful, seemingly gentle yet concealing deadly intent. Gohan's several fierce attacks were all neutralized by her gentle yet powerful approach.
“This martial art…” Lin Ye in the audience narrowed his eyes, “is like Tai Chi in ancient martial arts, but it’s different.”
On the stage, Lily suddenly changed her move, drawing circles with her hands, and a strange energy field enveloped Gohan. Gohan felt his movements suddenly slow down, as if he were moving in water.
"What kind of move is this?" Gohan was surprised to find his energy being slowly absorbed.
Lily smiled slightly: "The family's 'Flowing Energy Technique' allows us to temporarily borrow the opponent's energy."
Gohan took a deep breath, his golden aura erupting as he forcefully broke free of the energy field's restraints: "That's a powerful move, but I won't give up so easily!"
The two clashed again, and this time Gohan changed his strategy. Instead of relentlessly attacking, he used his speed to overcome Lily's slowness, avoiding her clinginess. In the end, a precise Ki blast forced Lily to the edge of the ring, securing a narrow victory.
"The winner is Son Gohan!" the referee announced.
Lily, slightly out of breath, bowed to Gohan: "Thank you for your guidance. You have a great ability to adapt."
Gohan returned the greeting: "You're amazing too. That Energy Absorption technique almost made me lose."
Next up was Lin Ye's match. As he stepped onto the stage, the cheers from the crowd reached a small climax. The black-robed fighter appeared silently on the opposite side, his entire body shrouded in a large black robe, even his face hidden in shadow.
"Game start!"
Lin Ye did not rush to attack, but instead cautiously observed his opponent. The man in black robes remained motionless, like a statue.
"Not going to make a move?" Lin Ye tentatively sent out an energy wave.
The man in black robes finally moved, deflecting the energy wave with a mere wave of his hand. Only then did Lin Ye notice that the hand beneath the black robes was an unnatural grayish-white, with unusually long and slender fingers.
Suddenly, the man in black robes vanished from his spot. Lin Ye instinctively leaped backward, leaving three deep claw marks where he had been standing.
"What speed!" someone in the audience exclaimed.
Lin Ye activated his Origin Form, his entire body enveloped in golden flames. The two moved rapidly across the arena, and ordinary spectators could only see two shadowy figures, one golden and one black, constantly colliding and separating.
“You are no ordinary martial artist,” Lin Ye whispered during one of their exchanges. “You have the aura of dark energy on you.”
The man in black robes let out a hoarse chuckle: "Good taste."
Suddenly, the man in black robes unleashed a powerful burst of dark energy, enveloping the entire arena in black mist. A commotion erupted in the audience.
"That's the energy of the Dark Empire!" Trunks suddenly stood up.
Vegeta frowned: "There are still some remnants."
On the arena, Lin Ye showed no fear. His primal energy surged, dispelling the black mist: "No matter who you are, you will be ended here today."
The two clashed again, this time Lin Ye holding nothing back. Origin energy condensed into a sword shape, each strike carrying the power to purify the darkness. The black-robed man gradually weakened, his black robe torn apart, revealing a hideous face—half of which was mechanical.
"A cyborg?" Lin Ye exclaimed in surprise.
Taking advantage of Lin Ye's momentary distraction, the man in black robes suddenly threw out several small balls. The balls exploded in mid-air, releasing a large amount of disruptive energy.
"Watch out!" Gohan shouted from below the stage.
Lin Ye reacted instantly, forming a shield of primal energy to block the explosion. When the smoke cleared, the man in black robes had vanished without a trace.
"Coward," Vegeta sneered.
The referee hesitated for a moment, then announced: "The winner is Lin Ye!"
Although he won the match, Lin Ye felt a vague unease. The remnants of the Dark Empire had infiltrated the martial arts tournament, which meant that things were far from over.
The semifinals began quickly. The first match was Vegeta versus Trunks. The father and son stood in the ring, the atmosphere both tense and delicate.
“I won’t hold back, Dad.” Trunks assumed a fighting stance.
Vegeta's lips curled into a smile: "That would be best."
The match began, with Trunks launching a fierce attack, his sword flashing like raindrops. Vegeta easily dodged, occasionally launching counterattacks that forced Trunks to defend with all his might.
"Your swordsmanship has improved, but it's not enough!" Vegeta suddenly accelerated and punched Trunks in the stomach.
