Chapter 13 Little Field's Efforts
Chapter 13 Little Field's Efforts
On set that morning, Tian Xiwei was giving it her all. Thinking about last night's nightmare, she was determined not to let the scenes in her dream come true. She had to show Brother Feng that she was the one who could handle things best.
The first scene was a family scene, where she was filming herself complaining to her parents that her brother was always bullying her. As soon as Tian Xiwei opened her mouth, that angry and aggrieved feeling came through. When she was accusing her "parents", her eyes were wide open and she was gesturing vigorously with her hands, just like when she used to complain to her mother.
"Cut! Okay!" When she called "cut," she was still panting, with beads of sweat on her forehead, but she looked at the camera with a smug expression.
After filming for two hours, Tian Xiwei's eyelids started to droop. The aftereffects of not getting enough sleep last night were coming over her. Her eyes were a little unfocused, and she was stuttering over her lines.
In the scene just now, she said to her "mother" "Brother hid my eraser again," but she actually said "Brother hid my homework again," without even realizing it.
"Ka, Vivi, come here."
Tian Xi walked over with her head down, not daring to look at him.
"Didn't sleep well last night?"
"Hmm..." she responded softly, "I had a nightmare and couldn't sleep for the rest of the night."
"If you're not in the right state of mind, you can't film the scene." He pointed to the folding chair next to him, "Go over there and rest for a while, have lunch and take a nap, and then film again in the afternoon."
"Oh." Tian Xiwei obediently sat down, feeling a little annoyed. Why did she have to mess up at this time? Would Liu Haochun laugh at her behind her back?
She secretly glanced at Liu Haochun not far away. He was reading a script, looking focused, and seemed not to have noticed them.
At noon, boxed lunches were distributed. Tian Xiwei's lunch included an extra spicy chicken, which she had mentioned yesterday. Liu Haochun's lunch consisted of steamed fish and green vegetables, which were light and refreshing.
He walked over with the lunchbox and placed Tian Xiwei's plate next to Liu Haochun: "Squeeze in and eat together."
I was eating when my phone rang. It was my mother calling.
"Hello, Mom."
"Xiaofeng, come home for dinner tonight. I stewed some pork ribs, and your dad also bought a fish, as well as cured meat and sausages." His mother's voice came through the receiver.
"What time is dinner?"
"It'll be about 6:30. Oh, and call Weiwei too. Doesn't she love my braised pork? I'll make extra."
Hearing this from the side, Tian Xiwei's eyes lit up instantly, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up in a smile. After hanging up the phone, she looked at Tian Xiwei and asked, "My mom wants you to come over for dinner tonight. Are you coming?"
"Go, go, go!" Tian Xiwei nodded immediately, afraid he would change his mind. "I love Aunt Wang's braised pork the most, and her sweet and sour pork ribs too!"
Then she turned to Liu Haochun, her tone gentler than before: "Haochun, why don't you come to my house for dinner tonight? You can keep Weiwei company."
Liu Haochun was stunned, then pointed to herself: "Me? I'll go too?" She hesitated for a moment, "Isn't that a bit inappropriate? It would be too much of a bother for your aunt and uncle..."
"Don't bother me. My mom loves being around people. It'll be boring for you to be alone in the hotel. Come along."
Tian Xiwei listened from the side, and the smile on her face instantly froze. Why did they still have to take her along? Wouldn't that turn it into a family dinner with Feng Ge, making it three people? Just as she was complaining in her heart, she saw Lin Feng wink at her.
"Yeah, Haochun, let's go together!" Tian Xiwei immediately forced a smile, but in her heart she was snorting: Feng-ge is really something, can't he just take me alone? And Liu Haochun, can't he just say "I'm not going"?
Liu Haochun looked at Tian Xiwei, then at Lin Feng, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded: "Well... okay, thank you, Uncle and Aunt."
"No trouble at all." He took out his phone and texted his mother: "Mom, there will be one more person tonight, it's Weiwei's friend. She can't handle spicy food very well, so please put less chili in the dishes."
I quickly received a "No problem" emoji.
Tian Xi ate her rice, her mind already calculating: "I'll go. I'm familiar with Aunt Feng and the others when I get to Feng's house."
Liu Haochun was a little nervous. It was her first time going to Feng Ge's house and meeting his parents. Would it be awkward? She wasn't used to dealing with elders. What if she said something wrong?
She stole a glance at Tian Xiwei and saw that the other woman was eating with her head down, but the corners of her mouth were turned up, as if she were very happy. She felt a little relieved. With Weiwei around, things should be better, right?
He picked up a piece of pork rib and gave it to Tian Xiwei: "Eat more, so you'll have the energy to film this afternoon." He then picked up a piece of fish and gave it to Liu Haochun: "This one has fewer bones, you should try it."
With her mouth full of ribs, Tian Xiwei mumbled, "Thank you, Brother Feng," but in her heart she thought, "Brother Feng should put some food on my plate first!"
Liu Haochun whispered "thank you," but in his heart he was thinking: Should I buy a gift later? His parents said that in the past, it was customary to bring a gift when visiting a stranger's home for the first time; it wouldn't be appropriate to go empty-handed…
After finishing his boxed lunch, he saw Tian Xiwei slumped on a folding chair, her head tilted to the side and her eyelids drooping, clearly exhausted. He told Zhou Ming to keep an eye on her while he headed back to the hotel.
He stopped as he passed the convenience store.
Back on set, Tian Xiwei was still awake, propping her head up in a daze. Seeing him return, she asked, "Brother Feng, where did you go?"
"I went back to the hotel to get my coat and bought a few things while I was there." Lin Feng plugged in a hot water bottle. "You can take it when it's fully charged; it'll keep you warm."
Tian Xi looked at the pink hot water bottle with a little bear printed on it. Feng Ge still cared about me and was worried that I would be cold. She didn't say anything, but just obediently watched him fiddling with the charger, the corners of her mouth secretly turning up.
The hot water bottle heated up quickly. Lin Feng wrapped it in a towel and handed it to her, saying, "Here, don't burn yourself." He then took off his black coat and gently covered her with it. "Take a nap; you have scenes to film this afternoon."
Tian Xi shrank back into the chair, feeling warm all over. The hot water bottle in her hand was scalding hot, warming her from her palm to her heart. She looked up at him and said, "Brother Feng, you're so good to me."
"Go to sleep, stop talking nonsense." He ruffled her hair. "Otherwise, if you mess up the shoot this afternoon, I'll deal with you."
"Then you have to stay next to me." Tian Xiwei suddenly grabbed his sleeve and said coquettishly, "I can only fall asleep with you next to me, okay?"
I was amused by her appearance: "How old are you? Do you still need someone to accompany you? Aren't you ashamed? Do you think you're still a three-year-old?"
"I don't care, I just want you to stay with me!" Tian Xiwei tugged at his sleeve and shook him. "I won't sleep if you don't stay with me. If we mess up the shoot this afternoon, it'll all be your fault!"
"Fine, fine, I give up." He sat down in the chair next to her. "I'll just sit here and not leave, okay? Hurry up and close your eyes."
"Hehe, I knew Brother Feng was the best." Tian Xi smiled and closed her eyes. She shrank deeper into her coat, but soon succumbed to sleepiness, and her breathing gradually became steady.
Seeing that she had fallen asleep, he picked up another fully charged hot water bottle, gently tucked her coat around her, and turned to walk towards Liu Haochun.
Liu Haochun was sitting on the prop box reading the script, circling the lines with her finger, her brows slightly furrowed, as if pondering the emotions. Hearing footsteps, she looked up, saw Lin Ta, and quickly stood up: "Brother Feng."
"Please sit down, don't be shy." He handed her the hot water bottle. "I just bought it, it's fully charged. It's better for warming your hands than gloves."
The hot water bottle was also pink, with a little rabbit printed on it, from the same series as Tian Xiwei's. Liu Haochun was taken aback: "Thank you, Brother Feng, why did you buy me this..."
"Your hands were so red from the cold when you were filming this morning. Here, take this. It'll be windy this afternoon, so don't catch a cold."
"Hmm!" Liu Haochun hugged the hot water bottle to her chest, the warm temperature spreading from her body. She lowered her head and continued reading the script.
After standing there for a while, seeing how serious she was, I didn't disturb her. I turned around and went back to Tian Xiwei's side, picking up my own script and starting to read.
